The collection of your data and the use of technology to do so, where appropriate, is always to enable us to serve you better and to help us manage and improve the usability of our website and your experience as a Pyrovac customer.

At any time, you may choose not to provide all or part of the requested data and we respect this choice fully. However, this may mean that we will not be able to provide you with the information requested.

If you request to receive marketing materials and information about our technology and applications, we will need your name, email address and details of your interests so that we can provide you with the relevant information. The same data will be required if you request more information about our technology and applications at events or "offline" situations such as trade shows or if you contact us by phone.

If you are a current or potential business partner, we collect basic data about the people we communicate with, such as their names, titles and contact information.

If you apply for a job with Pyrovac, we will collect the information you provide to us through our website or otherwise, such as your resume and any forms you may fill out.

3.1.1 Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache memory of the website user's Internet browser. They are used to make our website more user-friendly, efficient and secure and to measure the use of our website. You can specify the acceptable settings for cookies in your browser yourself.

3.2 The data we receive from other sources

If you apply for a position with Pyrovac Inc. and the position warrants it, we may also collect publicly available data, such as data you make available on social networks.

In addition, if you choose to interact or subscribe to our pages on social networks, certain public data from your social network account may be shared with us.

  1. Our use of the data

We use your data to communicate with you in the most efficient way possible.

Specifically, we may use your data to:

  • communicate with you, including responding to your questions and inquiries and tailoring that communication to your situation;
  • contact you in connection with the products and services we purchase, including for security and maintenance purposes;
  • to keep you informed of our developments;
  • give you access to online services and features;
  • evaluate a job application, advance and possibly complete the hiring process;
  • Protect our customers and our business from risk and unlawful acts, including verifying your identity when necessary for security reasons;

We may also use your data for additional purposes, which we will identify at the time of collection.

The legal basis for Pyrovac's processing of your data will generally be that we have a legitimate business interest in doing so in accordance with Canadian privacy laws

In other cases, the legal basis for processing your data will be one of the following:

  • the performance of a contract with you or a relevant party;
  • obtaining your consent (in which case you may withdraw it at any time); or
  • compliance with our legal obligations.

Where applicable, your consent will be obtained from you at any stage of the process of submitting your data or requesting any of our services. For example, your consent will be sought for the collection of your data as part of the process of signing up for our newsletter in the same way as when you access the Pyrovac website.

  1. How we share and transfer your data

5.1 Sharing your data

In most cases, your data will not be shared with entities outside of Pyrovac.

In some circumstances, we cannot avoid sharing your data with other entities, for example if you require services that Pyrovac does not provide directly, but rather through its business partners. In such cases, the entities with whom we share some of your data are required to use or disclose your data only for the purpose of performing the services we require of them.

When required, your data may be shared with:

  • Pyrovac's business partners;
  • the service providers we use to perform services on our behalf;
  • Service providers who render services to Pyrovac necessary in the processes related to the products and services you purchase from us;
  • authorities and other public entities in accordance with legal requirements.

When selecting our service providers, particularly those who provide technology solutions that may process your personal data, we pay particular attention to their level of compliance with privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation and their adherence to privacy principles.

5.2 Transfer of your data

Pyrovac operates in several countries and is headquartered in Quebec, Canada. As such, and while we seek to encourage local processing of data by the entity using that data, your data may be transferred to Pyrovac's partners, including in Europe and the United States. The European Commission has approved the transfer of data to Canada because it believes that Canadian privacy laws are adequate. With respect to the United States, Pyrovac complies with Bill 64, Section 99, which requires a person who collects personal information from an individual to inform the individual that the information may be disclosed outside of Quebec.

Pyrovac's global operations may also involve the transfer of data to a country that may have different data protection laws. When this occurs, we take steps to protect this information, including ensuring that our partners comply with Pyrovac Inc.'s Privacy Policy and transferring data only for legitimate business purposes.

  1. Your control over your data and your choices regarding the processing of your data.

An important part of our privacy philosophy is to ensure that you are comfortable with what happens to your data. We therefore invite you to contact us if you have any questions or if you would like to access, correct or, in some cases, delete your data and if you would like to choose how we can use your data, for example by managing the settings for how we communicate with you. We will do our best to respond to your request promptly.

In addition, you have the right to file a complaint with your competent supervisory authority.

  1. Retention of your data

We keep your data for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which the data was collected. This usually means that data will be retained for as long as we have a business relationship with you and for a period of time thereafter, where required by applicable law.

  1. protection of your data

As in all our activities, Pyrovac uses advanced technologies and solutions in the treatment of your data to ensure its protection and integrity. We partner with some of the best service providers in Quebec and rely on experts in the field to implement both digital and physical safeguards.

Nevertheless, the best security efforts cannot protect against all risks during data transmission over the Internet and security gaps may exist. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible and we urge you to always exercise caution when transmitting data over the Internet.

  1. Updates to the Pyrovac privacy policy

We may update the Pyrovac Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our business and/or applicable regulations. Updates will be reflected on this page and, if the changes made by an update are material, we will provide you with a more prominent notice of such changes.

  1. The part we can't control...

Please note that our partners have their own privacy policies and practices. While we are meticulous in selecting our partners, we cannot accept any responsibility for their privacy policies and practices. Therefore, we encourage you to check their privacy policies before submitting data to these entities. The same applies to links we may provide to their websites.

Pyrovac may also include YouTube videos that can be viewed from the Pyrovac website or its partners or make the videos available on Pyrovac's YouTube channel. In such cases, YouTube may collect your data and we encourage you to check its privacy policies before using its services or submitting data to YouTube. YouTube is a service of Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Your information collected by YouTube may be transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the United States.
